I've found that installing/re install internet explorer usually fixes this. Somehow that updates/reapirs whatever file is corrupted. (possibly from a failed IE load)...

Same problem though in addition I cannot cut/copy and paste in windows folders or windows explorer. The right mouse button gives me the context menu though paste and paste link are dehighlighted. Any ideas cause I am about ready to chuck this PC.

PC RAGE!!!!!

This appears to be yet another symptom of a major MS Windows bug. Another (which I have) is that when you try to drag something to a button on the Taskbar (so you can drop it into another program), the Taskbar is supposed to pop up the program so you can complete the task. Well, I have two PCs I built from scratch; one works, one does not. And the one that does NOT, sometimes DOES, for no apparent reason. I keep them both as identical as possible. I've been doing this since the original IBM PC (with the 2 garage-door floppies), so I try very hard not to make mistakes. And I refuse to allow IE onto my HDD period, so it's not an IE problem per se.
Guess what, folks? As long as we sneak over here & whine and moan, MS will continue to shove the same old cr@p down our throats until we die. And if only one of me or you complains to the guilty party (MS in this case) what difference will that make?
You want a solution? I sure do!! We all have to do this together, though. Ready? Here it is:
Call MICROSOFT with your complaints! Keep calling until they get fixed! Then move on to Corel or CA or NAI or whomever. Every one of us has this responsibility. Pass the word to everyone you know. The problems will never get fixed unless we insist, persistently, en masse.
Get up and yell, people!

I lost drag & drp (w95, 0sr2). It started with IE5 failure, working offline. IE5 offered to repair itself when I tried to uninstall it, and did so. This worked, then failed again. I uninstalled, back to IE4, which worked for a while then failed. Attempts to reinstall from a cover disk were refused. R$einstalling w95 didn't work - it picked up the old settings. I finally reformatted the HD and reinstalled w95 and now it works. Fingeres crossed!
