I'm having the same problem. In addition, I can't paste files from within windows explorer.

I fixed the problem by installing Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0.

I'm having the same problem. The drag and drop has stopped working in explorer, on my desktop and in word. I suspect everywhere. Also I can cut or copy but not paste. When running PCMedic 95, it found a virus (w32/ska.exe) in the file happy99.exe that was attached to an email (though I don't believe happy99.exe was ever run). The problem was first noticed today and re-installing win95 and before finding the virus. The virus has been deleted and no others found but the problem is persisting. Next step is to reload win95 again but I don't know it that will help. Has anyone else solved this? Please forward the answer to me directly as I don't check this board. Thanks

Like James, I also fixed the problem by first uninstalling and reinstalling the Internet Explorer 4.0

Hi Folks,

I have the same win95 problem that is global on my PC box. I can not "drag and
drop" on any program (e.g., explorer, word, etc.). When I execute any
program for example Word, the following message appears: "This document
could not be registered. It will not be possible to create links from
other documents to this document." This message even shows up when in
Word I open any file.

I have re-installed Windows 95 even though I did not re-format the hard
drive as suggested by the Windows 95 installation CD-ROM. This did not
solve the problem. I suspect a file or flag is missing but I don't know
which one. Can you folks help?

This seems to be caused by re-installing windows without first un-installing IE4 or IE5. The offending file seems to be \Windows\System\Dispex.dll. To correct this problem. 1. Restart from safe mode dos delete Dispex.dll. 2. Restart windows and uninstal IE4 or IE5. 3. Restart from safe mode dos delete Dispex.dll if it exists. Restart windows and install IE4 or IE5.
The Drag & Drop should now work and MSWord97 should register files correctly.

i have uninstalled IE 4, have renamed all files related to IE and have installed Windows 95 and IE 3.2. but i am still unable to drop and drag. I also followed the suggestion in response #7. I am getting the same error message as Mr. Cruz in Response #6 "This document
could not be registered. It will not be possible to create links from
other documents to this document." Can someone direct me on a solution? Thanks!

I received an email from someone that I had sent a resume to inside the email was the Happy99.exe attachment. I opened it without scanning but did not download to my computer. After opening I realized that I should have scanned for viruses and did so to find the w32/ska.exe virus. Will I eventually start hab=ving problems with my drop and drag feature, I do not as of right now but I am curious if it takes some time to start. I would appreciat any feedback on this subject. thank you

Had same problem.
After starting some programs... unable to drag and drop
Traced the bug down with a file-activity-logger. (Opentrap)
All programs that caused the problem had ole32.dll in common.
Seems like some apllication replaced it with
a newer, but buggy version... dunno what application though

replaced ole32.dll with original version

Everything works fine now.

Hi,
I had the same problem few days ago: I had reinstalled 95 without uninstall IE5. I solved this problem by uninstalling IE5 (option: Previous windows configuration) and installing IE4 SP1 twice (after the 1st inst. I still had an error message regarding LOADWC.EXE).
