Hi there. Whenever I try to download any attachment from hotmail it downloaded an html page (getmsg.html) instead of desired file. This is happened only when I use IE 5.5. But there is no problem with Netscape 4.7. It can download without any problem. I'm wondering what's the wrong with IE. Anyone knows?

right click the link to download the attachment and choose open instead of just saving it. repeat if needed, and then your attachment should come up to be saved directly.

Go to internet setup and setup hotmail as your default mail server. It is generally default to your ISP mail server. It happen often with cable or DSL user.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using a cable modem, and Hotmail is my default mail program. I can't find anything on this issue in the MS Knowledge base. I'm thinking of uninstalling/reinstalling IE 5.5. Any other idease before I take that drastic step?

I have the same problem. Microsoft have not mentioned this problem. IE 5.5 has good features, but this error (getmsg.html) is not pretty.

To work around this bug, instead of choosing to "Save the File to Disk", choose to "Open the File From its Current Location." A second dialog box of the same type will open. You may then choose to "Save the File to Disk" and the file will saved normally.

Thank God I finally found someone who knew how to get around this screw-up. It works for all email that I have. An IE problem rather than email problem I see.
