I cant seem to get rid of a .JPG file that was downloaded to my computer. Whenever i click delete on it a messege pops up that says: "Connot delete file: the filename you specified is invalid or too long. Specify a different file name." It says the same thing when i try to cut it too. It wont let me open the file either. Does anyone have any suggestions?

As in response 1 exit do DOS (or run the MS DOS PROMPT in your start folder) then go to the directory you need by using the cd command (change directory). And when in the directory type delete *.jpg (and replace the "*" with the filename.
Example: if the filename is "picture" and it's in the "My documents" directory go to DOS and type this:
cd my documents
del picture.jpgIt could be that the command lines I gave you are not 100 % right but it's someway like that!

...or...start>find type in the first couple of words, select drive. Highlight the proper file, choose file>rename>or delete; your choice.
Hope this helps.....ck

WARNING
Try this only and only if the files are in a ISOLATED location (U dont need the folder which contains the JPEG files)
BEWARE ....
type deltree and the Directory
DELTREE (Directory LOcation)
Or else
SAFE
go to ms-dos mode and type the file name to be deleted
Since DOS contains only 8char's a file name and 3 as extention it would easily convert any long filename to 8 chars thus
asdfdfdfdhffhjhf.jpg may look like
asdfdf~1.jpg
try command
del *.jpg
or
del each individual file

The files are in my "My Briefcase" folder and it wont let me delete it. It wont let me rename it either.

Have you tried >
Right click on each program that is showing on the bar next to the time & close ( or exit ) .
Leave the speaker .To finish off , press , Ctrl / Alt / Delete together . Click each item , 1 at a time in the box showing & click End Task .
Don't delete , Explorer & Systray .Now try & delete the file .

Warning Again.............
---------------
Be very careful and sure on what to delete
----------------
Boot u system from a floppy disk .....(I guess u know how to do it)
Using Dir command try to locate your Briefcase Directory... It (!may!) look somewhat like this
MYBRIEFC~1
TYPE deltree MYBRIEFC~1
the system will prompt u whtr u wish to del or not type Y .... and the game is over
If even this doesn't work install system mechanic or norton system tools as they have various application which may delete these files
Note :........
The last option is to format ur hard disk
but let me know if the above thing worked , before u plunge into anything silly
Later
If u have a windows OS(not required though) cd resintall only the briefcase part ,but first do the above said things ..... Please mail me at raviop@rediffmail.com if u want to know abt hu to install Briefcase
