Hi,
I am trying to delete a Word document and the following message is displayed " Cannot delete Program:Access denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use". The history behind this document is that I originally copied it onto a floppy disc and transferred it to my computer. When I went to open it it would not open saying the program encountered problems and closed. Got any ideas on how to delete this document?
Thanks Stu.

If you are familiar with DOS write down the whole string of where it is located (example...C:\my documents\crappywordfile.doc).
Reboot into DOS.
Press cd.. and hit enter
If you are not at the c prompt repeat the step above.
If you are at the c prompt type cd mydocu~1(if that is where the file is)
Note: Windows shortens my documents to mydocu~1 and you can see the shotened names by typing dir/w/p at the prompt.
Press dir/w/p and make sure the file is there.
If you see the file press del crappywordfile.doc (Where crappywordfile.doc is the file to be deleted) and press enter
Type exit and press enter.

post here with your results soon if possible.

... and if you're not that familiar with DOS you can try deleting it in safe mode.

Hey - I'm all for the DOS, but it can be a bit daunting at first.

Glad you're fixed up.

Sometimes even in DOS it will not delete. In this case, do:

Attrib filnam.ext -r

this will remove the "read only" attribute.
