Subject: Can't connect to the internet (HELP!)
Comment:

I have Dellnet by MSN and when I use MSN Explorer to dial up to the internet. It connects, but says, "Unable to sign in. There may be problems with your internet connection or the servers may be down. Please Try Again Later." Even if I bring up IE 5.5 or Netscape, I get a message that says This page cannot be displayed.

I don't know how many people I have talked to at Dellnet to fix this. I have been down for a week.

Problem first occured when I restored an older registry. When I did that, My clock settings were off. I had changed the time zone and time since then. Dellnet Techs ran me through a series of steps to make sure it wasn't the problem.

Can Someone Please help or give me suggestions on what to do. I hate borrowing neighbor's PC. PLEASE HELP!!

Hi - have you tried repairing Internet Explorer or upgrading to a later version. To repair goto Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs> and try to remove I.E - It won't let you but should give the option to repair it. You could also check under 'Internet Options'>'Connections' that 'Always Dial My Default Connection' is checked.
If you have a cover CD with a later version of I.E on it (5.01 or 5.5) try installing that - it may help. Hope this is of some help - ian

does the modem succesfully connect to the internet. if you use the internet connection wizard, will it dial the test number? messing with the registry could easily have corrupted your modem driver.......

It does connect. The two little computers in the bottom right of the screen show the status as connected. It just won't let me view any webpages.
