i'm not at broke computer now. original set up--desktop (98se) connected through router to modem(dsl).laptop(xp) connected wireless through router. desktop internet quit working, just recieves unable to find page. removed router, plug laptop into modem, works fine. with desktop plugged into modem, nic adapter has green light on,modem lights appear normal but no connect. also iexplorer runs very slow. don't know if problems are related. ran avast program to clean virus/trojan etc. deleted all suggested files. tried to restore registry. when i get back to broken computer i am going to try ping test. also, in safe mode ieplorer opens normal but does not connest to internet
