i recently reformatted my computer, but now the colours wont change off of 16 and i cant change the pixels from 640 by 480. i think its the driver, which i got off the net, but i dont know when/where to use it. in the device manager it doesnt say any drivers are missing. thanks for your help

Two ways to do this: 1. If the driver has a SETUP.exe, run it to install driver. 2. Reinstall driver and use the "Have Disk" option and point to the location of the Win98 driver you downloaded.

alright thanks, but the display adapter doesnt show up in the device manager any more. before i formatted my computer there were 2 items in display adapters, now theres only one

You need to reload the files for the motherboard. Get the cd that has those files or go to the mnftr's web site. Otherwise you're not goiong to get very far. Larry

Dan, You need to set both the monitor and the dispaly adapter (graphic card) to the resolution you desire. If you don't have the right driver and are unsure what video card you have you can use generic settings to get back to 800x600 and 32 bit. You already know where device manager is so go there and update your "Monitor" driver to say that you have a "Super VGA (800x600) and then update your "Display Adapter" to at least 800x600. NOTE: This could be dangerous on older boxes if you're not sure your video card or monitor is capable but since you know you had it running that way before you'll be fine. ciao, Wired
