Hi, I'm running Win 98B and a Voodoo 5 5500 video card (have been for a couple years now). I haven't had problems in a while, but no, for some reason, I cant' change the colour options on my comp (In the display panel, when you go to properties on the desktop).
I'm stuck on 16 bit colours. I can't go to 256, 16, or 32 bit colours, for some reason. Anyone know why this may be? I get an error that tells me: The display control panel is unable to change display settings. Please check your display hardware in device manager.
I checked my display hardware in device manager, and it seems to think that everything is working fine.
The only thing I can think of is that I need new drivers, and I haven't an idea where to start looking for what drivers I need.
Thanks in advance.

Here's another problem I forgot to mention:
I can't run Half-Life (or any of its' mods, obviously) in full-screen anymore. For some reason, it likes to stay windowed, and refuses to go full-screen for some reason.
Thanks again.

...bad video card? I've had it for well over a year and haven't had any of these problems before. I reinstalled all my drivers, and now I can't change my resolution either. Should I just go buy a new card or what?

I had this problem and posted on this site. The advice I got was:
Somehow you have shifted back to the generic Windows svga display mode. Go to you video adapter in your display properties, and reinstall your video card and drivers.
So I messed around with very little idea what I was doing: I couldn't find my video card to reinstall. But, somehow, while i was going through the installation process (with nothing to install, please note) it somehow worked. I think I pressed 'Quit' or something, and the computer decided to do me a favour. Don't ask me how it worked! If your desperate you might want to try it, you may get lucky. I don't understand computers AT ALL!
