I cannot access the secure areas of websites. When I attempt to do so, my browser, Firefox, initially attempts to transfer to the secure page but almost immediately stops and freezes on the original page. From this point I can do nothing other than disconnect and restart Firefox. I used to have this problem with IE6, in addition to certain webpages loading and then going blank, but changing to Firefox at first solved the problem but not now. I have tried switching off my firewall, ZoneAlarm, and I have set the internet security settings to low but it has no effect.
I think it could be a spyware related problem but I can't solve it. A few months ago I had the Cool WWW malaware but I removed that with the CWshredder and it finds no traces on my system now. I currently have a 'CAX Proxy' which Spysweeper(free version) finds but doesn't remove properly.
Any help would be appreciated.

Had this problem a few months back, downloaded the latest 128 bit seurity and all worked, seems the one I had was out of date or corrupt, sytem file checker may show this but the file from your disc may be a bit dated.
hope this helps
