Hello,
Does this error occur when you try to open one cd?
I mean, just try inserting another cd,and open the rom drive i.e d: or may be some other.
If that still doesnt work, then you shall have to open up the CPU and check up the rom drive.

This happens on all cds, it also happens when I try to install new hardware(flash memory reader writer).
If I go inside the computer what am I looking for?

Make sure that you have the correct 'Win98SE' driver for that drive.
