Since my reinstall of Win98, I cannot get Microsoft Windows Update to scan, to find out what Updates I need, reads 0% complete. Could I have deleted it in trying to problem solve in another Post on here "Programs Opening & Closing Slowly ??" on page 2.
Thanks.

Snake420,

Ok, that's a lot of reading to do ;-) so, let's start with the last first ok. I'll take a look at it all closer, later.

Give this page a read, to see if it's of some use.

Could you please, give me/us all your specs, thanks. Video card+RAM, processor(CPU) speed, ect.

What does it say, {Help, About Internet Explorer, Version:, Update Versions} about your browser?

Check in the Downloaded Program Files (folder), for any of them that doesn't have a status of "Installed". Let us know, if any have a problem.

Here is another one :-) It's 5.6 script.... You'll see when you go to the site. Give this a go also.

Windows Script 5.6

Yet, another one ;-) that could be of interest.

I check back later, ok. Sis is in labor, so, might say my mind is'nt on computer problems ;-) spelling either ;-)

p.s. Your other thread 164569
p.s.s. Yes, I started this and you know the rest, ah baby, and refreshed the page, but still going to post ;-)

after fresh install, 0% may mean there are no updates required, also try sfc.exe for files missing or corrupt. as for programs opening slowly, possibly too many other programs running in background,firewalls-antivirus's- and personal items, try process explorer by sysinternals,to see whats running , check perfmon.msc as well...

Thanks everybody.
Already got the problem solved, before you all answered. It was the scr56en.exe (Windows Script 5.6) needed downloaded, and installed. Went back to Windows Update, and all is good now. All updated and going.
Atleast THAT problem got solved easy enough. Now back to my old post. Thanks again.
