Yea, I have fixed this problem many times before. Go to "Start" then "Find" then "Find files or folders". Then search for "msrating.dll" on the hard drive. Once it is found select it and delete it. You must close all applications before you do this. This will completely disable content advisor and you can not use it again. If you have any other questions send e-mail to freezingbear@yahoo.com

Ronnie,
Follow bears advice if you dont ever want to use content advisor. If you do want to keep it functional, post back, and I will e-mail instructions. I dont want young kids to visit this forum and learn how to bypass papa's password.

Al, I got a used computer with the content adviser set. I did remove the rating file and even figured a way to avoid the tampering messages but lately I noticed I cant use hot mail or set up on line banking. Get: "error acurred in the secure channel"
Please send me a tip? padoty@yahoo.com

I deleted the hex codes as suggested by a another forum and it worked. I set a new pasword and set the restrictions. but the error still accurs in the secure channel. the error comes from ie explorer not the server

A teacher at our school set the content advisor password on a computer. She has left our school and we cannot use her IE because it blocks all pages that are not rated.
I see that Al has a solution. Can you help me out?

Do not delete anything. that is the worst thing you can do. there is a simple way to get to the password. if you deleted msrating.dll go to a dll library on the net and download it. if you want to know how to get to the password e-mail me. shame on anyone who suggests deleting dll's.

take care,
tim

If someone could mail me the fix, that would be great. Some kids in the building I work in set a password in the Content Advisor and now three computers can't even bring up Yahoo. Please send the fix to mi_whittman@yahoo.com
Thanks.

How did I get this program in my computer and how can I remove it? I don't need it since I'm the only user. Was it when I had to re-install IE 5 or when I started using myfavoritei?
Thanks
Bob
