Comment:
My computer is PIII running Windows 98 SE.
I always get this message when I double click on any .nfo file, "Microsoft System Information cannot open this file. The file is corrupted."
Why is this happen on every nfo file?
By the way, what is an .nfo file? What's it's purpose?

microsoft system information might register .nfo files as theirs and often don't work.
often the cases with .nfo files is just another ansi file, so all you have to do is hold down left-shift and right click on the file. this is give you a menu and in there should be something called "open with..." click it and select NOTEPAD (if you want to open futer .nfo files with notepad click on the check box) then push ok and you should be fine.

The NFO file extension is noramlly linked to MSINFO32.
But, if you are clicking on an NFO file that does not belong to MsInfo, you will get an error. Where are you finding the NFO files? Try opening one in NotePad. Sometimes the files can just be text files.

NFO files can be open using Winzip. They are usually included in a Keygen or Crack and this is usually where you will find instructions on how the run the Crack, Patch or Keygen.

....or if you are already in WE just change the suffix from .nfo to .txt and it will come up in Notepad when you click on it again.

Setting the default font in Notepad to Terminal will make ANSI nfo files appear correctly.
