i formated my drive n reinstall win98. everything went well but i can't play any sound on my computer. it says "cannot play audio stream: no audio hardware is available or hardware is not responding"

You need to reinstall the software for your soundcard.
If you don't have the software, open your computer, take out the soundcard and write down make and model. If it is not apparent what the make and model are, write down the part number on the biggest chip on the soundcard.
then try these driver sites to get the files you need;
www.driverguide.com
www.driverzone.com
www.drivershq.comyou have to register at driverguide to get a username and password but its free and nobody will show up at your house.
If this is a relatively new PC that you bought as a package deal, look through all the CDs and floppy disks that came with it for sound drivers.

hello..also try to install the CD-Rom drivers for your motherboard if you Have one ..it will contain a such important files for everything in your sys..blessings.
