Hi. I know this has been psoted elsewhere but it wouldnt let me post to that thread so im posting again in the hope that someone will help me :)
I have 98 se, gateway machine, 9gb hd, 700 mhz cpu, 128 ram
Im having the same problem as mentioned before about not being able to find the file atmui.dll amonsgt the others that were listed. isdn, ndvsi.
Im having this problem with aol broadband. everything is fine until it asks me to finish the installation by putting in the 98 se disk.
It does actually find the file, on both the disc and hardrive, but when it updates and asks me to reboot in comes onto the same screen again saying 'cannot find file atmui.dll'.
If i search the c drive for the file it finds it the same as it does on from the disc, updates, i reboot, it moves to the next file, isdn.hlp (i think) i skip this as it doesnt really need it, the next file is ndvsi.hll (i think, sry, didnt write it down), this file is also found on the c and d drives. Not matter which one i take it from it updates, i reboot, and it asks for the file atmui.dll again. I have tried numerous times
Ive tried the (dun14-se.exe) update and it didnt work for me.
Ive checked my hardrive and it's fine. Tried removing network adaptors and reinstalling. No joy. Tried with communications and i dont seem to be able to remove this though.
Aol and the manufacturers (gateway) have no clue, they suggested i google :) lol
can anyone help please? much thanks

Well..u can try running "sfc" as in...start>run>sfc..it scans for system files n lets u update the corrupted ones...DLLs manytimes get corrupted due to conflicts...try this in safe mode with ur Windows98 Cd in the ROM...maybe itll help..
Happy Computing!

When you do a search for the dll file, what folder does it show as being in? Usually dll files go in the windows\system folder.
I'd guess either the installation process isn't putting the file in the correct place or the registry or other configuration files aren't being updated.

The files are in c:\windows\system
I thought that th files werent being updated as well but i havent got the first clue as to why.
Ive actually formatted my hd twice with a clean reintal of windows trying to see if it will fix the problem and it hasnt :(

If it's AOL-provided software I think you should try them again. Since you've done a clean installation of windows there can't be a conflict with other software.
My son works for AOL. I asked him about it. He said the only problems he's heard about it is not having enough hard disk space or the AOL 9.0 disk being bad.
