chip, Which files are you trying to extract(name & extension) and why(error messages)? The reason I'm asking is because there are times that SFC reports files as being corrupt when they actually aren't. Are you using an original Windows 98 CD or a Recovery CD? Post back with this info and someone should be able to help.

I'm using the original windows98 CD. I wanted to extract dlls which I can do before and exe files. The SFC says I must restore the files. Even my printer now is not working for some reason. Things went downhill when I remove the DW.exe that doesn't belong to microsoft but from another company when I uninstalled kazaa and use Adaware to remove the spyware.

chip, FPSRVADM.exe is not a Windows 98 file so it won't be on your 98 CD. You can check out the many links/threads at the SEARCH link below my name(Homepage:)for info on that file.

As Tufenuf stated SFC reports files being corrupt that actually are not. It may then install the incorrect file. Here is a link with a few such files.
