I' m not sure how you tried deleting it, but try this method:

Do a find for *.dbx
Delete the inbox.dbx file
Reboot and start Outlook Express
The inbox should be recreated

If Outlook Express is on the C drive then that is the right place to look.

What happens when you put *.dbx in the Find/Files or Folders box - does it come up with anything at all?

But when you search *dbx from "Find/Files or Folders" does it come up with "anything at all" (like other dbx files for instance)?

Sorry to keep nagging but I have reasons for asking this question.
