Hello Everyone,
I have partitioned my hard drive into 4 sectors, for some reason, now, I can't access G drive. It is shown in the control panel yet, the comp does not see it. It was partitioned about a year ago and functioned without any problems. How can I get the comp to again see G drive,
as always thank you in advance for your help and advice,
frank

Hi Petit Jean,
It has been used for about a year, I have data stored in this sector, The comp does not see it, even though it is shown on the control panel,
frank

Frank, "I have partitioned my hard drive into 4 sectors", would that not be drive letters C:, D:, E: and F:?
If G: was the last drive before repartitioning then check F: drive for the files that are supposed to be on G:.

Thank you Bryan, I will check as the partition is showing as G: drive. I have a cdrom shown as H: and my cd/rw listed as I:. Somehow the letter F has been bypassed. I will punch it up and see if it the drive will come up,
frank

Do you have TweakUI installed? There is a setting in TweakUI to hide drive letters from My Computer & Explorer. The data is still accessible (such as from Start>Run..), but the drive letter is hidden.
If you have TweakUI, but the drive letter isn't ticked (to hide it), you might want to tick it, reboot, then untick it & reboot again.
If you don't have TweakUI, you might want to install it & try the above sequence anyway.
I agree with Bryan that it's unusual to have passed up a drive letter (F). Have you tried a simple reboot? sometimes that will clear up some of Windows' minor peculiarities.
Other options to consider...
Reboot to MS-DOS & try Scanreg /fix, or if the problem is less than 5 days old, Scanreg /restore. Note that if you opt for Scanreg /restore, any programs that have been installed after the restore point will need to be reinstalled.

I have not used the following program but have a quick read at this Letter Assigner page.
It is free and allows you to assign letters to drives as you like.

Thanks again Bryan and Thank you Dave357, the mysterious f: drive have reappeared. I'm beginning to think these computers have a mind of there own, but, thanks to you, I can now access the invisible drive,
frank
P.S. I did download that program which is a handy utility
