i have a cannon bjc 4100 printer and a ibm aptiva older computer with windows 95. the printer acts like it printing but nothing prints. i have replaced ink cartridges both black and colored. the error lights comes on sometimes and the message on screen tells me i have cable problem.the next time i try to print the message may not come up but the paper will be blank. the printed acts like it printing but nothing.i have tried cleaning the printer heads as the book described. any one have any sugestions.

You more than likely have a clogged printer head. This occurs frequently with the Canon 4XXX series, especially if they aren't used at least once a week. Check the Canon site for instructions on cleaning the print head/nozzles. Good luck, Ken

When my 4300 had your symptoms, I replaced both ink cartridges and cleaned the printhead...It still didn't work. Canon said it was a defective printhead (I think that's what its called...The plastic thing that holds both black and color ink cartridges. They said it would be normal to have to replace that thing once a year (can you believe it!). Apparently it has a heater or something in it. Anyway, I bought a new one and that fixed the problem, of course it was over $50 (including new ink cartridges).
