I have accidentally discovered that a large number of zip files exist in windows\application data\sun\java\deployment\cache.
2. I am interested to know whether these files can be deleted.
3. If yes, the procedure for deleting them-

Thank you for asking.
When I originally installed Sun's Java console I used it for a few days before deseleting the console from within IE, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Java (Sun), Use Java.
I see now that in folder C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\file and \jar there were over 1,000 files all dated within those couple of dates that I was using the console.
I did take note that the files were all related to the Pogo.com games I had been playing on those days.
I have just now deleted all of them by selecting the folder in the left hand pane of Windows Explorer and going to Edit, Select All, File, Delete. I then did the same for the second folder.
As a test I just went to Pogo.com and find all is in good working order.

xetcetc & Bryan, Go into your Control Panel and open the "Java Plug-in" program and under the "Cache" tab click the "Clear Jar Cache" button. This should get rid of those files.

I'm running Sun Java and I do not have any Sun folder in C:\windows\application data\. I don't really remember if I deleted it, but it runs fine.
Delindex 5.1 (and the Delta routine within it, if enabled) deletes c:\windows\jpi_ca~1

Tufenuf,
I did as you suggested but received an assertion failed error...JIT must be enabled and it is not so I am not concerned with ther error message.
Deleting the files manually worked like a charm earlier.
I believe xetcetc may be able to benefit from this information.
Thanks and regards,
Bryan
