hi folks,
I am a novice this arena of computing. I am looking for a free software that would me enable to use my pc to make a call to a land phone ( not as a web chat tool). This is because I am using one line to get connected to internet and it will be convenient to use the PC to make a call like in an ordinary phone after getting disconnected from the internet.
thanks to you in advance

Well, you can have your PC dial the number for you, but you'll need a phone to talk. (There's probably another solution that costs money...) Just go to Start-->Programs-->Accessories-->Communications-->Phone Dialer

Your simplest solution would be to have a second phone line with a different number installed in your residence. This is what I did when I was still on 56K modem service. The added cost for me was about $18.00 a month.

If you have a good microphone and speakers, Net2Phone is a good program to use. Unfortunately, PC-to-phone calls are not free, even if they're local calls, and run you about 5 cents per minute. PC-to-PC calls are free.

I guess it depends on what you use a regular phone for...

Dialpad.com has a free one. Problem is I have tried a number of these programs. None of them work all that well.
