can ping! but TCP/IP application doesnt work!

I have a laptop with a turbo ibm pc ring card installed for Lan connection. I can login to Netware but i cannot surf the internet and use any TCP/IP applications. The strangely i can ping to internet and TCP/IP-based server. Currently i am on DHCP server. Any clues!!

Can you ping text adresses like www.yahoo.com or only ip adresses like 204.71.200.67. If you can ping ip's but not url's then you most likely need to enter DNS adresses into your tcp/ip properties. If you have DNS info then check to make sure tcp/ip is bound to your NIC card in network properties. Last resort- delete and re install you network components in network properties.
