can mouse prevent windows startup ?

hi, anybody heard of a mouse preventing win98 SE from starting. the machine fires up but just hangs with nothing on the screen. when i change the mouse, it fies up fine. any ideas. cheers in advance

Possible, but usually unlikely. Normally if the mouse fails, you get a mouse not detected message. However, if the mouse has a failure that gives a continuous 'wrong' signal, it is possible that the boot process is stopped.

cheers, i thought exactly the same, at least i should get a message saying 'no mouse' its a curious one.
