MP3's are seen as data files and not music files. if you are trying to create an audio CD with these files it will not work. either convert them to .wav files or try to save them as data on your CD.

You can do it easily by Cdex, musicmatch or winamp. But if you read terms and conditions of Napstar, you are not elligible to copy/burn their musics.

I have heard this story many, many times that you had to convert to .wav to be able use as music cd. This is not true. I burn mp3 all the time and play them in my home and car cdrom player. I use the Adaptec program. I copy mp3's to cd's and they show up on the cd's as .cda format. If there is any converting to .wav format it does it behind the scene and is of no concern to most people.

that's exactly what it does...it converts it in the background.

try to play a file in MP3 format in your CD player...it won't play. MP3 is a type of data compression not audio.

Then why does a lot of people say convert to .wav format. If it does it in the background then why confuse newbee's with that hogwash! They couldn't care less as long as it works.

not every burn program does that. you happened to find one that does.

for the average person, they want to know why, when they burn MP3's to a CD they don't play. that's why. your everyday average CD player does not read compressed data files. which is also why if you compress your .wav files it won't be able to read them either.

most people want to know what works and converting to .wav file is easy and works more often than not.

If your computer with the HP burner came with Adaptec Easy CD Creator version 4.0 or later then you can easily create MP3s directly to CD Audio format. Just load Adaptec Easy CD Creator, select Audio CD and drag and drop your MP3 songs from the top panel to the bottom then hit record. Easy. If you have Adaptec Easy CD Creator Version 3.5c or earlier then you have to convert the songs to .wav format first. Another alternative is to look at other 3rd party recording software: for example MP3 to CD.
If you're asking how do I know which version of Adaptec Easy CD Creator do I have then load the program and select Help -> About from the menu. It will tell you there. Hope this helps.

Simple put...
Files downloaded from Napster are in MP3 format. Audio Cd's are written in WAV format. Get a decoder so you can convert these files. Try searching yahoo for a deoder er something.
