i would be gratefull if any one could send me (iexplore.exe) via email file attachment it would help me considerably.

my system is a p2mmx 400mhz running windows 98.

Man! I'm not ragging on anyone but I've never seen anything like this! This has never happened to me before, and it's kinda shocking to see so many people with the same problem.

I know how to fix this situation if you have Windows98. It'll require your CD, so have that in the CD-ROM drive.

First go to a DOS Prompt (Start > Run > "command" > OK). Then switch to your CD-ROM drive (if your CD is drive D, type "D:" at the prompt, if it is drive Z, type "Z:" at the prompt, etc). Type CD\WIN98 to get to the location of the file. Now it must be extracted by typing:

extract /a base4.cab iexplore.exe /l c:\progra~1\intern~1

To get the tilde "~" key, hold shift and press the key under ESC. The above command will start the extraction utility, which will begin looking at the first cabinet file (compressed file) called BASE4.CAB and, continue through each and every cabinet until it finds IEXPLORE.exe. When it does, it will extract (decompress) it into the C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER directory, where it was to begin with.

Having done that, type EXIT to get back into Windows, and restart the computer so that any programs that were originally dependant on IEXPLORE.exe being on the system will start up normally.
