Cable Modem and Proxy Set up

I have an in house network of 2 machines. I've subscribed to ATT digital cable. The TCP on my server NIC is set to Receive an Address Automatically and ATT supplies the address upon boot-up. Up to this point, everything works fine. I've been trying to access the net from the second machine using a program called AnalogX proxy which is set up on the server. I've followed the instructions to the letter and for one evening, I had everything working correctly and had complete access on both machines. The next day, the second machine was incapable of web access. It's as if the address on the second machine is unrecognized. Can anyone offer any troubleshooting ideas?

Because your server is obtaining an IP address, it will chnge each time you access the web from that machine, therefore the 2nd machine does not know where to look for the proxy server. Specify an IP address out of the range allowed( 192.168.000.255 eg ) and set the second machine to look for Proxy on this.

If you are trying to use proxy software you might want to consider placing a 2nd NIC card in you server and configure the outside card to DHCP so you can rec. an IP from ATT and the second card a static IP for you internal network. Then point your browser to the IP of the sever's inside card. What this means is you client Machines will never need to be pointed to you new IP from ATT. and your inside network is protected.
