I purchased xp pro because my isp told me that the cab files on w98se and w98 were corrupted. I do not have the w98 disk. I do have the w98se upgrade disk. Is there any way I can get back my internet connection without having to go through hell? Thanks in advance. I have intel pent II 82443bx which is supposedly 360mhz.I have 13gig maxtor drive. XP pro ver. 5.1.2600. In addition when I run sys info i get total physical memory of 128mb and available as 36.2 mb. Am I in trouble here with xp pro? Thanks in advance.

xp pro let alone xp needs a hefty system tp operate well. consider upgrading. youll want to eventually anyways. seein as you're stuck w/xp might as well keep it. win98 still is better but o well. try to find a friend with a win98 disc and copy the cabs file 2 ur hard drive or burn them to a cd so u can replace the corrupt ones, that is if u use win98. as with xp, like i said b4, upgrade.

From what I was told XP needs these minimum requirements:
500mhz processor 256megs of ram clean install takes 1Gig just for the windows program.
I can tell you I have a 550mhz and 384megs ram and I wouldn't chance putting it on my machine. Not at least till I upgrade some more.
