i'm going to be using the " c: /s " command to format my hard drive, but am wondering if there is supposed to be a space between the " : " and the " / " in the command.
have decided to use the win98 startup disk to reinstall windows ( that disk seems to make reinstallation a fairly simple process. )thanks,
jeff

If you are using the Win '98 Bootdisk, you do not to system format the hard drive (/s).
Do an unconditional format instead (/u).
Format C: /u yes, there is a space between : and /

Howdy, If you want the system files to be transfered over you better use the /s and it doesn't matter if it looks like this
Format c:/s our this Format c: /s
It will work either way, I have always but a space though out of habit. Also, if you have a newew system look in the CMOS to see if you can boot directly from 98 CD-ROM that way you never have to bother with the boot disk.Laters,

Howdy, Had a brain fart, since you did say you are using the boot disk there is no need to make the hard drive bootable after the format since when you do the install of 98 it will do this on its own, you can do the format with /u switch but it is not needed.

I got Linux drives on my system , but due to some problem it`s not detecting `em..

Thnk You. :)
