Heres my prob, plz help if possible. For x-mas i got a 1,000 budget from my parents with which to built a sweet comp, im 15. It is a 350K6-2, FIC pa2013, 64MB PC-100 ram, 10 gig maxtor, 17 in monitor, voodoo2, sblive, g200 rig, and if i could install win 95 or 98 would be the best comp on the block.
When I try to install any of 4 seperate coppies of windows 95 or 98, i get a suwin error in either user.exe or gdi.exe. I cannot run anything because of this. Yes, virus protection is off in the bios, and yes, this is off a fresh fat16 partition system/format. i have tried everything possible, please help if you can.

Try replacing your AMD processor with an Intel processor..even a low end Pentium will work.

listen. ANyone out there?

the exact same shit's happening with me right now. If anyone's fixed a similar problem (and it's got nothing to do with AMD chips vs Intel chips because i've tried swapping) please let me know what the secret is. It's driving me nuts.

I can't get no satisfaction, all i want is easy action.

Joe-joe.

1st. The problem is not with the PIO mode on the HDD or other Bios selections.
You need to disable your internal cache. If you want you can disable your external cache and startup CPU speed at low if running a 586 or 686 chip etc..
The SUWIN error happens when it tries to verify that the memory range it wants to use is free.
Well if you have your internal cache enable these memory ranges are protected and windows cannot use them for the install.
You THEN enable cache after the install. This should fix your problems.

Cheers

Paul

I'm seeing the exact same thing. I WAS
getting a segment not present fault with
SUWIN until I ran it with the /IM parm (setup
/im from DOS). Now I'm seeing 000C:00000825
error. I tried disabling cache and still see
the problem. Any other suggestions? I have no
idea what to do next!

Thanks.
