browser not detecting usb wireless

CPU/Ram: piii 450

have just installed a SMC usb wireless adapter. the smc utility shows wireless connection but the browser does not seem to be able to detect it.
please help

win98se-thinkpad-600x-PIII 450 MHZ

Try this:

Put the installation disk in the disk drive, open up Explorer and click on the letter of the drive the disk is in, then it should give you a list of folders and files. if one is there with your OS as the file/folder name then i'm sorry, i'm stumped but if for example your on Win98, and some of the folders are labeled Win98 SE, WinNT, WinME and WinXP then the device is not compatible with your OS, you may have to buy a new OS disk.
