Is it possible to break the administrator password which will be asked in the booting setup menu.

I want to access the system setup menu but it asks for a password. can we break it with any dos application?

Here is is listing of some of the key combinations used to enter the BIOS setup on startup. You must do this during the first few seconds after you turn on power. If you see the windows startup, it's too late.
Dell=Ctrl-Alt-Enter
Dell=Reset(Twice)
PS/2=Ctrl-Alt-?
PS/2=Ins
Toshiba=Esc
Toshiba=F1
NEC=F2
Compaq=F10
Award Bios=Ctrl-Alt-Esc
Phoenix Bios=Ctrl-Alt-S
Phoenix Bios=Ctrl-Alt-Ins
AMI Bios and Award Bios and others=Del (most common)

They work with AMI, award,IBM, and many other types of bioses.

They work like a dream.

JoanieB, this post is STALE; no one has posted here in more than 72 hours, so if the advice already posted here is not sufficient to help you, start your own fresh thread, make a note of the Forum Number so you can find the responses, and hopefully, you'll find the advice you need.

I'm not familiar with your laptop, so I can't advise you, but creating a new thread should do the trick.

One bit of advice; if you don't understand the instructions people give you, ask them to clarify things. Better to proceed slowly with this, because you can do a LOT of damage if you rush things. Sorry to say, not EVERYONE giving advice in these forums is actually qualified to do so, but that doesn't stop them from advising you, so a word to the wise woman...

I'll look for your new post, and hopefully, you can get this corrected soon.

Good luck.

Technoid
