I have Windows 98 Preinstalled on my laptop SONY PCG F-590. I tried to install Windwos 2000 Pro (Clean Install) on it (on separate partition). But This installation always failed by giving Stop Error KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED on ntoskrln.exe. Now I tried to install bootmagic (which comes with PM 6.0 )on it. Bootmagic saw windows 2000 OS on it and made that as a default OS. Now I removed bootmagic, SO that I get back my original boot configuration. But What ever changes Bootmagic made are still there. Now I see 3 options during boot Windows 98, Windows 2000 pro setup install and windows 2000(default). Please help in removing last 2 options since Only windows 98 is the working OS on my laptop.

Try to complete the Windows 2000 install. Once this is done you should be able to remove it. If not you may have to save all your data to another drive or CDR and format the drive. Then install the OS you want to work with. I had some problems with Windows 2000 and eventually went back to 98SE.

Boot magis probabley wrote something to your hard drive boot sector. If the boot magic screen appears at start-up. These boot managers don't like to quit. I would suggest you back up all your data and use your recovery cd that came w/your laptop
