Hey everybody.
So here goes, I previously had Win 98SE on this computer, then i took out the hardrive and put in a new hardrive. I fresh installed Win2K pro, cofigured everything and added a Maxtor Ultra ATA/133 card, with a 200 gig hardrive. Everythings still working. So I want to do somethign with win98 so i take out the drive i'm booting win2k from (which is a 40 gig maxtor) and toss in the old drive with win98se.

Reboot --> crash.

So I go into safe mode and uninstall the maxtor card, and some other things that i realized weren't in the computer anymore. Turned off the computer, and unplugged the maxtor card, and rebooted. ( I had hoped it would install the drivers for the ATA card)

No such luck. Now it freezes on startup.
So far i've step by step confirmation(ed) my way through and tried to find the problem.

first it was msmouse, so i commented it out of the system.ini
then it was some symantec program, so i unistalled them from safe mode,
then it was vserver.vxd, so i restored it from the cab files.
I checked all the files using the system file checker, nothing happened.

Whatever I do I can't seem to get it to work, so now i'm back to Win2k....

I'd still like to boot to win98SE at some point so any help would be appreciated.

I hope i gave you enough information.

Thanks in advance.

Chris
