Hi, try
"sys a: c:"
without the quotes
assuming that the c drive is your hard disk drive.

Could you be more specific? Do you mean just once, or at every startup? Details make all the difference.

copy /?

will give you the basics.

if the file on the boot disk is called DJINGLE and the directory on the harddisk is called BELL and you are at startup, type:
copy a:\djingle c:\bell

a:
copy filename.xxx c:

explanation: a: tells your computer to read your a:\drive, copy is the command to copy(dah). filename.xxx is where you use the actual name of the file you want to copy. and c: is you hard drive (I assumed yours is c:)

However, if you want to copy system files to your hard drive to make your hard drive a bootable drive, do what richard said to do.

Ding is correct, Jeck is not.

Following Jeck's advice will copy the file to the root of the HD, not to a directory on it.

... actually, it would copy to the default directory on c:
This is usually the root directory, but it can also be the last directory you were 'in' - that's why it's generally a good idea to be specific with DOS commands.

Also, if a target directory is named in the command line, but doesn't actually exist, the file will be copied & renamed with the name of the bogus directory.

Nothin's simple... not even 'copy' ;)
