Greetings all,
Any help would be greatly appreciated.I recently purchased and installed a new hard drive on a friend's compaq computer.
I removed the exsisting one and placed the new hard drive in but am now receiving a error at bootup stating
" BOOT DISK FAILURE PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM BOOT DISK "The new hard-Drive is a Maxtor 27.3 GB, and I have already run MaxBlast II on it to create the partition. I also used my computer to install Windows '98 prior to placing it in the compaq machine.
I have used a boot disk, and the computer boots up off of it, but the hard-drive contains none of the files I placed on it prior to installing it.
Apparently this machine has an ancient bios, because there is no settings for hardrives on it.
The hard drive is at the end of the IDE cable and the jumpers are set on Cable select..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

set it as master or only hard drive if it is the only hard drive. the compaq won't see it correctly with it set as cable select.
and you'll probably need to use the max blast
ez-bios for the compaq to use the whole drive.
you'll probably also have to reinstall windows
on the compaq when you get the drive detected
so windows can set it up with the proper drivers etc.
