Have acquired previously owned PC with windows 95 OEM. I have no disc or key no. attempted to load full version of windows 98 with licence but it wouldnt allow it so i thought i would clean HD and load 98 from scratch. I attempted to make boot disc on this pc it couldnt and threw up this error;- the file command.com on windows 95 CD.rom could not be found Insert windows 95 cdrom into drive. so downloaded 95b, 98, & 98c onto floppy from bootdisk.com all these fail and shows error non system disc or disc error replace and strike any key when ready. Have checked bios and is set at A.C.SCSI can anyone tell me what i can do? I would be gratefull for any help and advice i need 98 to run most PC games.

If you downloaded an image of a boot disk(with extension is *.img) ,you need the program Winimage to open the image and write it to the diskette. The top taskbar of Winimage has icons to start writing the diskette. You can also find selfexecutable boot disks(exttension(*.exe) that do not require the use of the program Winimage:you click the image and you are prompted to insert a diskette.Good luck.

when you download the disk from bootdisk.com
double click on the file and let it make the disk for you.it want work by copying the file.

i made a windows boot disc to format my hard drive and need a dos disc too.

i only use the boot disc to get to the part where it asks "without cd rom support" then i have to use the dos disc to format...im kinda stuck on what dos disc to use as i formatted with just the first boot disc and made a BIG mistake when i couldn`t reinstall windows.
I have downloaded lots of dos discs but when i go to use them..it keeps saying its the wrong dos commands.

i finally had to take this to a store to get windows reinstalled and cost me a whooping $144 for prolly 5 minutes work.
