this error occurs only when i play 1 pogo game....high stake pool.....its blue screen:
exception 0E occured @0028: C2A12ED7 in VxD NC100A (01)+
00001897. This was called from 0028: C001C60C in VxD NDIS (01)+
00004860. It may be possbl to continue ....but all i can do is manually shut off comp and reboot it

I'm not familiar with that game, is it an internet freebie?
The error you described is a network problem. Is this a network game or is its spyware crashing when trying to phone home?
There is a patch available from Microsoft. This may or may not be worth a try.

thanks rimfire but after reading the remedy it says that fix is for win 98 2nd and i have win 98 original would it also work on that? would it hurt to try it?
also and to answer your Q..pogo games are free online multi-player games but club pogo (which pool is) you pay to play a minimal fee monthly/yearly. This is the only game out of about 30 i have this problem with.

ok rimfire,,,i did try the microsoft fix you directed me too and it did nothing ,,,the same blue screen comes up when playing pool
and i have to manually turn off comp and reboot whole system

hey there, i had a fatal exception error although it was different to yours. i looked all over the internet but only found one site, even with help off people off this forum, that had specific information about my error. you will need to spend quite abit of time on this site but if you find your error there is hope!!
Hope the site helps: http://www.techadvice.com/w98/E/Exception_errors.htm
Good Luck, i know how annoying these things can be!
Ben

Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you. You replied at 1AM my time and and waited until 5:30AM mytime for me to reply.
That fix did say only to install it if the computer is experiencing that specific problem. This is Microsoft speak for 'it often causes other problems'.
You could try running System File Check. Click start, Run and type sfc in the dialog box. If it finds a problem with ndis.vxd, allow it to repair it. Use this tool carefully as it is widely known to want to replace genuinely updated files.
Another thing worth trying is deleting your network card in device manager, rebooting and allowing windows to find and install it.

thanks again rimfire I do understand about time difference,,,,im in canada
I appreciate all your help and will try anything at this point....it is very frustrating
Its nice to have a site like this to go to when all else fails. Thank you

Just a thought, might help, might not. Try turning down your hardware acceleration, if it is on full, put it on the second line/halfway, and apply/ok out. If this doesn`t help, just put it back to full. Something to try.

thank you mike peters i tried your suggestion and all others but nothing has worked ....still have problem and even went to compaq all they suggested was could be mcafee virus protect files that are causing it. Im not about to disable or get rid of that program.

Can we clear up an assumption. As the error message indicates the cause of the fault to be ndis.vxd, I am assuming that you conect to the internet through a network connection. Let me know if this is wrong.
When Compaq suggested that McAffee might be the cause, did it sound like they have heard of problems or just taking a shot in the dark?
I agree that you should not disable virus protection while on the internet. One possibility is to download and install one of the free antivirus programs. Then you could have this running while you try disabling McAffee.
Adware and its close relative spyware can cause all sorts of havoc. Do you check for these?
Right at the top of this forum is a link to useful programs. AVG is a freeware antivirus. Ad-Aware removes adware while Spybot Search & Destroy is a respected antispyware program.

klf143,
If you did remove the "network card" in device manager, and it didn't help. Try installing updated drivers for it, and see if that helps. Go to the manufacturers website, to get them. Could also try reinstalling from the disk, that came with the card.
Good Luck,
CrazyOne
give the exact setup, you have for internet access, thanks
