if i leave my pc to idle for more than ten minutes i get a blank screen with the blinking cursor in the top left and i cant figure out why..at that point the only way i can get it to come back up is to reboot. i tried the power management and screen settings and set them both to do absoloutely nothing and it still happens any help on this one?

What your experiencing is a shutdown screen. One of my computers does that on shutdown (older bios that doesn't like the cdrom [master] before a harddrive [slave]) You could try disabling the bios' power management.

this is not a shutdown screen... if i leave it sit for ten minutes(give or take a couple) i get this. i have sat and watched it happen.

Is it an active Dos screen. In other words can you type anything and see it on the screen?

I have a Dell Latitude CP laptop and when I hold down the keys "Fn" and "Esc" my laptop goes into suspend mode, but it only displays a blank screen and a little underscore in the top left corner. So far I have not figured out why this does this.

I had the same problem with my computer. I am running Windows 98 and if I let it run idle for 15 to 20 minutes the screen would go blank with blinking curser in upper left corner. What i found was that i had to let windows install my monitor as plug and play. Now its fine.
