Greetings,

I have searched this and not found an exact reference to my problem. In the course of working on the computer, (surfing and other things), blank icons appear in the system tray. Sometimes the icons are labeled "Screensaver" and other times there is no label. I have AVG installed on this computer and run Adaware from time to time but the icons persist.

This problem does not show up on three other computers in the house running 98SE, ME and XP.

This particular computer is used by the whole family on the Internet, word processing. The kids go to a number of online game sites, which I suspect might be the source of the problem but I don't know that for sure.

Can anyone suggest a way to figure out where these blank icons come from. Putting the mouse pointer on them does not pop up a box with info.

Thanks,
Doug

The video card has 16 MB of RAM but I really don't think that this has anything to do with the blank icons.

The kids play simple games online that display fine.

It is an OLD computer and it works fine and does what we need it to do. I am also old and still working fine, more or less, and won't need replacement for a few years.
