Howdy,

I have been trying to get an answer from my ISP about the following error message but up to this point I am not having much luck.

So, I decideed to post here and see if anyone else has ever experienced the problem.

For the record I am on dial-up and I am using Outlook Express

I received the following error message three times a few weeks back and now again this morning while attempting to send email with Outlook Express. The only difference between the four of them was a different 'IP' address.

Here is one of the actual error messages (I have removed the actual IP address numbers and replaced them with 'xxx's):

" ....An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'Phil', Server: '(Server ID Removed on Purpose)', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 This system is configured to reject mail from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] (Host blacklisted - Found on Realtime Black List server 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx..sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org')', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC69 ..."

As long as I am using the IP addresses mentioned in the error messages I am UNABLE to send any emails. This is becoming very frustrating on this end.

Once I shutdown, reboot and I am assigned another GOOD 'IP' address I am then able to send email messages .

(1) Am I correct in assuming that for one reason or the other the previous holders of the 'IP' addresses listed in these messages were actually 'blacklisted' for some reason?

(2) Also, how can I go about keeping this from happening again because this is the fourth such error message in less than two weeks?

Thanks and regards,

Phil

I believe that you are correct. That's a real problem, since you have the chance of being assigned this IP address every time you connect. The only thing I can think of is to contact your ISP and explain the problem to them. I would think that they must have other customers reporting this problem. Maybe they can disable that address so it's not assigned anymore. But they probably will balk at doing that, even if it's possible. Tough problem. Good luck!!!

Hi ham30,

Thanks for replying.

I have notified my ISP about this problem and I am waiting patiently for their reply.

Renewal time is fast approaching so how this problem is handled will make my 'to renew or not to renew" decision much easier to make ...lol.

Once again, I appreciate your imput as always.

Thanks and regards,

Phil
