bios update problem

i have a toshiba satellite 220cs with win 98 i am trying to update my bios from 6.80 to 6.b0 i have followed all the instructions however the computer screen remains black when i hold down the f12 key help would be much appreciated

So obviously something has gone wrong. Please provide a bit more detail as to the the events, error messages (if any), etc. along the way to your misfortune.

I've updated many toshiba laptops and have had no problem when booting up with the bios update disc. Give that a try.

iv tried both methods but toshiba recommend using the disc method as its an old laptop.however when i do this there are no error messages,i turn the computer on whilst holding f12 with the disc inserted,and the screen remains blank and nothing happens,any ideas?
Summary: Are you running the BIOS update straight from downloading it? You should be creating a bootable disk and putting the update program in there and then booting up the computer. Sunny...
