Your first stop should be Phoenix.

If you can't determine the password, then you can try clearing the password from memory instead. To do this, you need to be in MS DOS mode, then type DEBUG and at the prompt enter O 7O FF O 71 17 Q for Phoenix BIOS.

More information about getting access to password protected BIOSes can be found at http://www.elfqrin.com/docs/biospw.html

I used to delete passwords protecting BIOS's by unplugging the system and taking the BIOS battery out... didn't work with IBM systems though!

Deleting password by removing BIOS battery usually does not work for laptops. I know for a fact with some Toshiba laptops it takes a special hardware dongle which plugs into the printer port and short out a few pins to effect the reset. The pin-out diagram was revealed on a website but I've forgotten its URL, you may want to search for it.

Dear Sir,

I've a similar problem related to BIOS password.

I've tried disconnecting the battery but still it asked for a bios password. It doesn't allow me to enter into the system.

I've tried calling DELL so many times in the toll-free number thier number has been temporarily disconnected from indian office.

Plz. furnish the answer for the above question i've a dell optiplex gx110.

If u require any further information, plz. send me mail.

Regards,

samuel

To reset the password of a Toshiba, you can use KeyDisk. (cf my web page)
If this doesn't work, you can try to build the Toshiba Parallell loopback.
To make a simple device that you connect to your parallell port, a lot of
Toshiba computers remove the password when you boot it up.
The device, named "loopback" by some, could be made out of any
parallell wire with 25pins connectors (db25). You should connect
these pins: 1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15, 18-25.

A db25 looks like:
1 13
_______
\_____/
14 25

It works! had such problem and did it.. it is realy works
