building new computer,during startup bios flashes error "primary ide channel no 80 conductor cable installed." any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Seems to be a HDD cable error. Change it and see. And in BIOS try and set the IDE controller to both.

you have a 40 wire ide cable connected to a udma 66 enabled mobo

pop down to the local store and by an 80 pin if you have a udma 66 hd
if not check the bios for udma 66 or mode 4 and change it to udma33 or mode 2
