Can the bios chip be removed from a K7S5A motherboard? If so, whats the best method.

It can be removed quite easily if the chip is socketed.

If it's soldered down, however... the task falls into that realm of things that's technically possible, but probably not worth the trouble!

If the EEPROM is socketed, just be careful not to bend the pins when you remove the chip.

If the EEPROM is soldered in, be absolutely sure to use hemostats and a very hot iron or desoldering tool with a precise tip so you can *QUICKLY* desolder the pins before cooking the rest of the chip. I actually allow chips to cool down between *each* pin desoldering, but then again, I go to great lengths to protect components. Actually, you might not even want to attempt this on DIP chips unless you've got experience doing this sort of thing.

As always, be wary of ESD.
