Does any know who to get to the bio setup for the compaq presario 972. I've tried F10, ctrl alt F10, ctrl alt S and ctrl alt Esc with any success.
I'm trying to disable the sound card so that i can install a new card.

Try F1, F2, or Delete. Most boot up screen give instructions

Just after the beep, you will see a flashing cursor in the upper right hand corner. As soon as it appears, hit F10, and setup will launch.

I am having the same problem. I don't even see the blinking cursor on bootup on my CDS 972. I think this model keeps the setup on a tiny partition on the hard drive, and only when present will the blinking cursor appear. I'm having trouble finding the setup program installation (which incidentally requires repartitioning your drive!) on the Compaq site, which is very difficult to search through. Any suggestions?

Contact Compaq and ask for SP1363, specialized software that will allow you to get into the Bios even if you've lost your hard disk.
Does anyone know if you can get a new motherboard for this machine?
