This is the second day this is happening, first I noticed that when I drag the mouse, it stops for a second(maybe less) and then starts to move again
First I thought it was a problem with a mouse, but then I noticed that the screen saver is doing the same thing, stops and then goes on all the time, I changed the screensaver, but it didn't help, then the programs and the games started to do that too. When I restart the computer it doesn't do it any more, but in like 4 hours, it starts again and it drives me crazy. Does anyone know what the problem is? I would be more then thankful for help.

well it sounds to me like your running out of ram, did you install anything new? maybe an update? if you've installed anything that runs in the back ground like an add on, i'm sorry if this isn't much help but i need to know what programs you have installed. plus windows 98 tends to be a memory eater so if you have anything less then 100mb of ram its probably going to do that.

Run a virus scan. This sounds like typical virus type behaviour if it started all of a sudden. Also, RAM could be an issue if there's a new program running in the background (such as Norton) which is using up all your resources.

My current memory is 1.1 gigabytes and my ram is 160 megabytes, I have the norton antivirus and I scanned it rescently twice, it didn't find anything, My computer's memory was 6.5 gigabytes when I first bought it, and I don't even knoe where all that went. I have some recsent programs like, ie, word, excel, msn explorer, outlook, meavis beacon, internet players: windows media player, quicktime, etc.
I also have kazaa and a counter strike game(I just unistalled it rescently). acrobat reader, pixela, yahoo and msn messengers, and that's about all I can think of.

28%??? YIKES!!! You've got waaaay too many things running in the background.

Go to Start/Run/type "MSCONFIG"/click the tab that says "Startup". Review all the check-marked items, then un-check the ones that are not needed to be constantly running all the time. Reboot, then see how it works after an hour or two.

Post back to let us know...

KAZZA! thats a big resource eater! it made my pentium 4 with 256mb of ram run slow! i deleleted it also if you serf the web a lot you might want to get an adware remover, your ram is ok for 98 and for fueature reference anything less then 80% system resouces is not good, i like to stay at around 90% or so.
