I want to dual-boot with XP Pro and wasnt sure what other OS to use.. I have heard that 98SE is a good one.. What do you guys think??

'98 and XP - would be OK; but as XP is alleged to be all things that '98 is/was and more... is there really a need for '98. True some items may not work in XP that did work in '98 (usually older kit/appps...) Are you in that situation?

Hello,
I think you'll want to dual boot with dos 6.0 & windows 3.1.1. Just kidding! Actually, that depends on what you're gonna be using your OS for. Do you keep business records and such? If so, you may want to try windows 2K Pro. If it's just for everyday use, Win98 SE is a good one to dual boot with. It's just up to you what you want to use. I only have one request. DO NOT DUAL BOOT WITH WINDOWS ME. It's more trouble than it's worth. I hope I'm not offending any ME users out there. I haven't had good luck with it. Anyways, hope this helps.
Good luck,

Dual boot with windows 2000 pro or 2000 server. It is alot more useful now and days try getting away from 9x systems they will soon be phased out. If you dont have 2000 or server yet search for an OEM version. They are cheaper you just cant call microsoft for support.

Well .. you could boot with an OLD version of MS-DOS and run your AMIGA emulator. That way you could simulate 4 OS's. MS-DOS, AMIGA DOS, WIN3.1 (or Win 2.0) and XP.

Ah, yes indeed. In 1971 I wrote a 4-user timesharing operating system that ran on an Intel 8008 micro .. with 16K of memory and a 2.5mb Diablo Cartridge disk. It gave each user 64K of virtual memory space back then by using the disk. I executed the paged code out of the disk-controller buffer which had 4k of 80ns bi-polar ram (which was oodles faster than the ram in the machine). Somewhere (on a cassette tape, I'm sure) I still have the assembler code for it. I thought of porting it to an APPLE ][, but didn't even want to consider porting Intel instructions to a Motorola chip. I did write the Coleco Adam OS, though. Those were the bad old days.

Why dual boot Win2K and XP. They are almost the same. Win98SE (or even FE) and WinXP makes more sense.

Aw Man, I really liked messing with the Coleco ADAM..........at the time it was the best of both worlds! PC / Games. I think I still have the Donkey Kong cartridge, right next to my 8 track collection!

If you need native dos fuctionality I'd go with 98se. If not, I'd still go with 98se.
98se beats hell out of 95 or 98 first edition; Me would be silly in this config and why run more than one NT base OS.

Winxp and linux ......cause what one don't have the other will . Then when the next windows virus comes along you'll still be up and runnin.. makes it alot easier to recover files and remove viruses.

Now that is a plethera of responses.. I appreciate everyones opinion. One thing though....

All I have to say is ... ?QUE?
Thanks again guys!
