Rose,

You'll get a lot of different opinions for sure... my favs are FIC & ASUS.
Note: if you're thinking about doing the "1GHZ" thing, save yourself a few bucks and get as high as 800MHZ. The speed difference is good on paper, but negligible
in real time. If you want 1 gig, you'll pay for it.
Best of luck...

I like to stay behind the technology a bit, you can get good things for cheaper. I have an FIC VA 503+. Its a socket 7 board. Their latest BIOS update will enable your computer to handle the AMD 450 or 500, (I forget which), socket 7 CPU.

Stay away from TX PRO. They are cheap and there is a reason for it.

If used the VA-503+ a lot and it is a good board (supports up to 550 K6 series). The absolute best boards are usually Asus or Abit, but FICs are very good also (in myexperience). I would go with Asus or Abit for high-performance applications.

FIC VA-503+ is a great board.
Cheap too... less than $100
They even have a version with onboard audio.
I personally don't like onboard audio, but it's a great OEM option.

Rose, you might want to look at either Asus or Abit both are really good boards, but beware on any board you get, and make sure you DONT get a board with the VIA chipset.

try
www.motherboard.com
or
www.motherboards.com
two completely different companies
or you can go to AMDs site www.amd.com and they will have boards to look for and that they recommend.

Good luck

What's wrong with VIA Slade? Not being funny...curious for your reason...Since I have a VIA chipset. Yep..ABIT was a board I liked in the past. I don't have one now only because they decided not to support super7 socket. (Unless that has very recently changed!)... Still..I got a lovely TMC TI5VG+ with VIA chipset! (gulp..it seems)Though it was recomended on that AMD site! (?)
