LET THE OPINIONS BEGIN! ;>)

You'll get varied opinions on this topic. I tend to like Western Digital, Seagate, and Fujitsu drives. I stay away from Maxtor.

The best cheap hard drive is whatever's on sale or rebated at your local computer/office supply store.

The best drive would be a drive that originally came with a 3 year warranty. The most you can find now is 1 year. You've got to figure the average 3 year warranted drive is higher quality than a 1 year.

But do stay away from the Maxtor relabeled Quantum drives.

I like the Western Digital or Seagate drives.

The WD-80gig-ATA100 is pretty good, I have one of them, and a 40gig by same manufacturer, never a problem with them.

Besides, Office Depot puts them on sale from time to time :-D

Best to ya.

"What is the max Harddrive I can put on this Motherboard"?

I think it's limited by your BIOS version. Bios can be updated but if you get it wrong, the motherboard will be dead.

Bios version is shown when you start your PC and a black screen shows with white text. To freeze this screen, press the PAUSE/BREAK key. To continue loading Windows, just press the enter key.

You will have to check on the bios makers website to see what the HD capacity limit is.

I have to agree. I have more trouble with Maxtor. Just pitched an 80G that was less that a year old. Just up and died on me. Now I got a 160G WD. Great so far. Had to use overlay software of course, but still works great.

When at first you don't succeed...
